During RO, water molecules under powerful water pressure pass through a semi-permeable membrane that has extremely minute pores measuring only 0.0001 micron in diameter. Through these holes, the membrane filters contaminants such as solid particles, microorganisms like bacteria and viruses and soluble molecules of all sizes. The NSF 58-approved Bio Pure membrane removes all sorts of impurities and pollutants- big and small - present in running water, including arsenic, barium, chromium, cadmium, copper, sporangiocysts, fluorides, lead, radium, selenium, and total dissolved solids (TDS).

Elken's Bio Pure Water Purification System uses pipes and tubings made from materials that do not contaminate the drinking water or encourage the proliferation of microorganisms. The connectors are designed to ensure efficient cleansing and backwashing. Furthermore, all the materials used are strictly nontoxic and anticorrosive. Even the coating has been subject to the most stringent tests to ensure durability and resistance to wear and tear.

The Bio Pure membrane also has an auto-flush function: the flushing mechanism is activated every hour for 20 seconds at a time whether the unit is in operation or not.
